The wool:
100% wool grown + spun on treaty 6, 7 and 8 territory in Alberta. Worsted weight, 2 ply.
Gather has been working in collaboration with local wool and dye expert Kalea Turner-Beckman, local farmers, and Gather weaver Shanon Nelson to bring you a line of blanket wool designed specifically for weavers. This is a project that has been over a year in the making.
Parkland Blanket Wool has been extensively woven and sampled in our studio. When you weave with Parkland Blanket Wool, you are joining us in this sustainable project. With your support, we aim to offer you a new local weaving wool each year.
To use this pattern you will need access to a 4 shaft loom with a weaving width of 45" and an 8 dent reed.
Cozy up in this luscious blanket that uses natural fleece colours combined with skeins of naturally dyed wool. The basket weave and deliberate use of colour result in stripes that have the appearance of delicate stitches on fabric.
Difficulty: Beginner
Finished Dimensions: finished blankets are (approx 37" wide and x 55" long after washing)Â
